Over 150 young men worked here, constructing earthen check dams, rock spreaders, and contour furrows to prevent the loss of valuable farmland. Today, remnants of the Sanchez CCC camp still stand, including portions of five original buildings, the SCS administration building, and the garage/blacksmith shop, both built with poured concrete and basalt cobbles. You’ll also find concrete foundations, stone-marked pathways, and crumbling walls, offering a glimpse into this forgotten chapter of Arizona’s history.
