Very steep and Rocky Hike to Carrie Nation Mine

Arugged thike deep into Arizona’s stunning Santa Rita Mountains as we set out to uncover the historic Carrie Nation Mine in Madera Canyon. Armed with curiosity, backpacks, and their adventurous spirit, Aaron, Gidget, and their dog Finnick follow the scenic Carrie Nation Trail through shady oak woodlands, whispering pines, and steep mountain slopes. Along the way, they encounter remnants of a mining era long past—old ore carts, rusted cables, and weathered timbers scattered among wildflowers and rocky outcrops. At nearly 6,500 feet elevation, the mine itself lies hidden near the top of Jack Mountain, where water still seeps from the flooded entrance.
