Located in Pinal County, Arizona, west of Red Rock, Sasco (short for Southern Arizona Smelter Company) was once a bustling company town built around a massive smelter that served nearby mines. It’s now a crumbling but fascinating ghost town, perfect for off-road explorers and history buffs alike. Nestled high in the Santa Rita Mountains of Santa Cruz County, Alto was originally called El Plomo—Spanish for “lead.” Later renamed Alto, meaning “high,” the town was home to steep mountain mines and even the first female postmaster in the U.S., Mimi Bond. It's a hidden gem full of stories and scenic ruins. Finally, we relive our visit to Sundad, A mysterious site with a strange past. First established as a mining town, Sundad was also proposed as the site of a sanatorium in the 1920s. By the 1950s, it had already faded into legend, referred to as a ghost town in the local press.
